Written and Directed by Stephen Lourdes (Drive), Dublin born actor Vincent Walsh will take on the lead role of Ryan Gibson in ‘Rebel City Rumble’. The Irish Canadian actor’s previous roles include a part in BCB-TV’s ‘Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion’ and CBC-TV series ‘Hemingway vs. Callaghan’.
Stephen Lourdes has taken over the director’s helm following the departure of John Burns from the project, who left for family and personal reasons. Director Stephen Lourdes has said that ”It’s a great shame, not only to this project but to filmmaking in general that John has taken leave from the community.” He went on to say that “Rebel City Rumble goes full steam ahead.”
Executive produced by Ned Dowd (Apocalypto) and produced by Howards Gibbins (King Arthur), ‘Rebel City Rumble’ tells the story of Ryan Gibson, a bank robber who loses what’s left of his loot to the cops of the Rebel City. As he goes after them to reclaim his money, he also begins to fall for Roxy, a local DVD and internet café owner who is also girlfriend to local gangster Dylan. The role of ‘Roxy’ is yet to be cast.
Other cast in the feature include former boxer Joe Egan to take on the role of local police sergeant ‘Sarg’. Christa Cannon (The Highwayman) as bank clerk ‘Goldie’ and Elliott Francis (Splatalot) as Sarg’s police partner ‘Dropkick’. Exact dates for filming the production are unconfirmed but director Stephen Lourdes has said he “would love to go for principal photography in October this year.” The feature will be filmed in Cork and Arizona. Budget is TBC.
