Three Productions Announced At Mind The Gap Films
24 Jun 2004 :

Mind the Gap Films have just announced the green light on three major new projects that will be screened on Irish and American television later this year.

Mind the Gap Films called in Observe last week to shoot their successful theatrical show The Songs of Mama Cass – PBS New York flew over to see the show and gave the go-ahead for a major TV special commemorating the 30th anniversary of the singer’s untimely death. Maurice Linnane directed, Bill Hughes is producer and Bernadine Carraher is executive producer.

This week shooting began in the studio for their TV special celebrating the 150th birthday of Oscar Wilde. The project is being filmed in association with Art for Amnesty and Amnesty International. The programme will be broadcast on RTE on Oct 16th 2004, Oscar’s 150th birthday and on PBS on world aid’s day, Dec 1st 2004. The first tranche of filming took place in RTE and featured a cast of Irish luminaries: Adrian Dunbar, Bono, Jean Butler, Larry Mullen, Noel Pearson, Gavin Friday, Pauline McGlynn, Don Wycherley, Bryan McFadden and Jim Sheridan. The film will feature 150 of Oscar’s best lines, spoken by 150 international artists, in a specially commissioned adapted screenplay by Frank Mc Guinness. The programme will be shot in New York, LA, London and Dublin. Director Bill Hughes, Producer Bernadine Carraher.

And just to keep things simmering along they have also begun work on a documentary celebrating the life and work of internationally renowned painter Anne Madden, Louis Le Brocquy’s partner and muse. Over the years Louis’ life has been meticulously documented, but previous film makers failed to focus on their unique relationship, which has informed the past fifty years of both his and her work. The film will be a deeply personal and hugely visual documentary on the life and work of one of Ireland’s greatest living artists, and her extraordinary fifty year relationship with Louis, now in his 88th year. Director Bill Hughes, Producer Bernadine Carraher.
