Fiona Walsh, a 2005 Graduate from the Make-up programme at the National Film School at the IADT, Dun Laoghaire, has won 3rd place at the first International competition for European Make-up students.
The International Make-up Artists Trade Show (IMATS/Europe) was held in London this week where thousands of make-up artists, vendors, manufacturers and enthusiasts gathered for the make-up world's biggest expo.
The student competition was organised by the prestigious US Make-up Artists Magazine and a shortlist of eight finalists (which included students from colleges in France, Holland, Italy, England, and Wales, as well as Ireland) were asked to re-create a character from the sci-fi feature Star Wars and work in view of the public at the show. Toni Delany, co-ordinator for the Make-up course at IADT, said she was “delighted with Fiona’s success”.
The competition was judged by Oscar and Emmy winning make-up designer Michael Westmore (Star Trek, Mask, Blade Runner).
