Next Saturday the 28th of September will see the Irish Film and Television Academy welcome acclaimed filmmaker Neil Marshall to the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin to provide an industry masterclass from the director’s chair.
Marshall, described as “one of the most exciting, visually imaginative & original British filmmakers of the last decade”, first attracted notice with his feature debut “Dog Soldiers” (2002) and quickly followed up with a slate of similarly stylized and self-penned genre films including “The Descent” (2005), “Doomsday” (2008) and 2010’s “Centurion”, starring Dominic West and Michael Fassbender.
Recently announced to lead production on the Chris Columbus-produced remake of Norwegian cult horror “Troll Hunter”, the director is currently based in Ireland to finish work on episode nine of the fourth season of “Game of Thrones”, having already received critical acclaim for the climactic battle sequence of the second season’s penultimate episode, “Blackwater”.
Hosted by Irish director Stephen St. Leger (who has ‘Prey Alone’ (2004) and ‘Lockout’ (2012) as well as a bevy of television commercials to his name),with James Mathers, the masterclass will take place at 12.30pm.
