IFTA winning films ‘Garage’, ‘Kings’ and ‘New Boy’ are amongst the line up for the Fifth Annual San Francisco Film Festival, which takes place from the 5th-8th March at the Roxie Film Centre, San Francisco.
Lenny Abrahamson's 'Garage' scooped the Best Film, Best Director and Lead Actor honours at the recent IFTA ceremony, while Tom Collins' 'Kings' picked up five awards including Supporting Actor and Special Irish Language.
Best Short winner ‘New Boy’, written and directed by Steph Green, will screen in the Magners ‘n’ Shorts short film segment, which features a host of home grown shorts including P.J. Dillon’s IFTA nominated ‘Deep Breaths’, Ken Wardrop’s ‘Farewell Packets of Ten’, Darren Thornton’s Berlinale winner ‘Frankie’, Ciaran Deeney’s ‘The Garden of Ireland’ and Sonya Supple-Gildea’s ‘Bua’.
Other IFTA nominated projects in the four day fest include Tony Herbert’s romantic comedy ‘Speed Dating’, ‘Bloody Sunday: A Derry Diary’, directed by Margo Harkin and Cathal Black’s documentary ‘The Undertaking’ (aka ‘Learning Gravity’), which will have its US premiere at the festival.
‘The Undertaking’ will be presented by Cathal Black and Thomas Lynch, the Irish American poet, writer, essayist and funeral director who was the subject of the film and inspiration for the HBO TV series ‘Six Feet Under’. Cathal Black’s feature film ‘Korea’, based on a story by John McGahern, will also screen.
