Just completed Art Direction on Badly Drawn Roy 2 for Jam Media / BBC
Gary has worked in the Art Departments of various feature films incl King Arthur, Ella Enchanted, Michael Collins, Space Truckers, and for TV - The Tudors & David Copperfield. His architectural background helps him with surveys, creating drawings from the designers sketches and reference, working with the construction department, CAD / CAM drawings for construction and laser cutting and creating 3D models.
He has worked as a graphic / multimedia designer - creating brands and graphics and signage for various film sets, creating motion graphic sequences for TV screens / laptop screens in a set environment.
In 2010 - Primeval - Seasons 4 & 5 was shot in Dublin. For the sets Gary created concept art and 3D Models and CAD drawings of various sets and locations. For the graphics he developed a system of delivering motion graphics live 'on queue' across 3 LCD screens to the control centre on the main set for each episode. A technical challenge which was solved using various software systems.
After 40 weeks of pushing pixels on Primeval it was time to get the hands dirty doing stand-by Art Direction on Stella Days. Some challenging locations (snow & minus -10C) it was like human photoshop in a few locations trying to erase the snow for some scenes :)
Gary is involved in developing the Design Community in Ireland
