Brown Bag Films Production ‘Peter Rabbit’ Commissioned for a Second Series
2013-10-17 16:45 : By Julie Browne
Peter Rabbit and his best Benjamin Bunny and Lily Bobtail will appear for a second season of 'Peter Rabbit'.
‘Peter Rabbit', the animated series produced by Dublin Company Brown Bags Films, has been commissioned for a second season by Nickelodeon.

The series is based on the characters created by Beatrix Potter in her classic children's series The Tales of Peter Rabbit.

The second season will continue to follow the adventures of mischievous Peter Rabbit and his best friends Benjamin Bunny and Lily Bobtail, as well as many of the much-loved and iconic Beatrix Potter characters, including Squirrel Nutkin, Jeremy Fisher and Mr. Tod.

Season two will see the addition of Mittens the cat, Pig Robinson, and Mr. Tolly the tortoise, along with an expanded animated world for Peter and his friends to explore.

Brown Bag Films has been tasked with giving the English bunny a modern makeover – taking inspiration from Harry Potter and Indiana Jones.

Director David McCamley said, ‘We are delighted to be starting work on our second season of Peter Rabbit and to have the opportunity to build on the fantastic success of season one.’

‘They are such wonderful and rich characters which we have all grown to love and I’m looking forward to creating brand new adventures with our incredibly talented team here at Brown Bag Films.’

Developed by Silvergated Media, the animated series was made in Brown Bag's Smithfield studio and produced by former Dreamworks production manager, Erik Vignau.

Established in 1994 by Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O'Connell, Brown Bag Films has previously adapted classic tales such as Enid Blyton’s ‘Noddy’, Ian Falconer's ‘Olivia’ and Niamh Sharkey's ‘Happy Hugglemonsters’ into television series.

It will air on CBeebies and US Nickelodeon this Christmas in a 22-minute 'special', where Peter Rabbit will be introduced to a new generation of children.

Additionally, a brand-new episode of ‘Peter Rabbit’, titled ‘The Tale of the Giant Pumpkin’/‘The Tale of the Fierce Bad Rabbit’, will premiere on Nickelodeon USA on Friday 25th October 2013 as part of Nick USA's Halloween programming line-up.
