The RTE TWO short film compilation series, Shortscreen, will begin screening on the 8th of January 2005, every Saturday night, opening with Irish Film and Television Award nominated short ‘Two Fat Ladies.’
The series includes films from the Short Cuts and Frameworks film series gives viewers a chance to catch the latest work from talented up and coming filmmakers in Ireland. The series of shorts also includes Brendan Muldowney’s ‘Beauty Queen’, Barry Dignam’s ‘A Ferrett Called Mickey’ Denis Mc Ardles ‘Burning The Bed’ and animated shorts ‘The Popes Visit’ directed by Gary Blatchford and Joel Simon’s ‘Hugo Mellon Show.’
The Short Cuts short film scheme is co-financed by Bord Scannán na hEireann/the Irish Film Board and RTE and aims to encourage new talent in all areas of film production. The Frameworks short film scheme, co-financed by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, RTE and the Arts Council, endeavours to add to the range and scope of Irish animation. Shortscreen begins with ‘Two Fat Laides’ on January 8th, RTE 2 at 11pm.
