13 Mar 2020 : News Desk
Dara Devaney in Finky. Finky has been nominated for Single Drama.
TG4 has recvevied a total of six nominations at the 41st Celtic Media Fesctival, which takes place in Quimper, Brittany, this coming June.

RTÉ's Laura Brennan: This is Me and TG4's Sceal na Beatha are among a record nine nominees in the hotly contested Best Single Documentary category, which also includes the highly acclaimed BBC documentary Gareth Thomas: HIV and Me. Elsewhere BBC’s Line of Duty, which is currently filming its sixth series in Belfast, has been nominated for Best Drama Series.

Dathaí Keane’s Finky, produced by Abú Media, has been nominated in Single Drama. The Irish feature film is the first feature from the Cine4 initiative, a joint funding initiative between TG4, Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) to support the development and production of feature films in the Irish language.

Hector Ó hÉochagáinis among the nominees in Factual Entertainment, for his TG4series Ó Siberia Go Saigon, while in the Current Affairs category RTÉ’s Greyhounds, Running For Their Livestakes a powerful look at the inside track of the Irish greyhound industry.

Catriona Logan, Festival Director, said: "I'm bowled over by the quality and quantity of entries this year, and that quality and breadth is evident in our list of nominees. At the Celtic Media Festival, big sporting names, well-known faces and top-rating dramas will come to compete alongside names and content that may not be so well known, but whose excellence is now recognised in these nominations.

Coming from the success of the 40th anniversary of the festival, and as we prepare to head back to France for the first time in 18 years, this is an exceptional list of nominees."

Katie Hanon’s ground-breaking documentary on Maurice McCabe,Whistleblower, has also been nominated in Factual Series – one of six nominations for RTE at the 41stCeltic Media Festival.
