The Irish Film & Television Academy announced the IFTA Gala Television Nominees yesterday, with over 100 nominees announced across 23 categories.
Of these, Irish language channel TG4 boasts 12 nominations. ‘Eipic’ is nominated in Children’s and Young People, Director (Louise Ní Fhiannachta) and Irish language categories, while Ros na Rún holds two nominations for Irish Soap and Irish Language.
‘Bás Nó Saoirse’ produced by Tile Films is nominated for best Documentary Series. Nuacht TG4 has been named in the News category. Among the programmes nominated in the Irish language category are; the award winning drama series ‘An Klondike’, ‘Eipic’ and Fleadh TV, which is the groundbreaking live music and entertainment series that showcases the best of traditional and folk music from Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
‘Crainn na hÉireann’ which sees Manchán Magan travelling around Ireland identifying our native trees is also nominated for an award in the Specialist Factual award.
Stephen McLoughlin (Hup) and John Brennan (Deoch an Dorais) are both nominated in the Sound category.
