10 Apr 2012 : By Eva Hall
The Consumer Show
Savvy shoppers will be pleased to hear ‘The Consumer Show’ will return to our screens tonight at 08.30pm on RTÉ One.

Financial guru Eddie Hobbs vows to “fight for your rights” as he returns to tackle consumer’s problems both great and small, with investigative journalist Keelin Shanley. Focus will be on viewer’s rising debts, getting more bang for your buck, as well as bad service and poor quality goods. Viewers are also invited to contact the show with individual complaints.

Over the 10-part series Keelin Shanley will investigate the rising levels of sugar in children’s cereals, while Eddie Hobbs returns to the road to tackle the nations’ consumer queries.

Finance journalist Bill Tyson will join the panel this season as he sets out to examine why Ireland has not been affected by the UK’s wrongful selling of payment protection insurance. Irish Times Consumer Affairs Correspondent Conor Pope examines Ireland’s healthcare system, tackling the health insurance debate with healthcare providers VHI.

Celebrity guests will be on hand to road test products with ‘The Consumer Show’s’ team, with television personalities Darina Allen and Brendan O’Carroll participating in a taste test in an upcoming episode.

Viewers are asked to get in touch with the show by ringing 01 208 4636 or email consumers@rte.ie. ‘The Consumer Show’ was produced by Dublin-based production company Coco Television for RTÉ.
