CoCo Producing St Patrick's Fest Celebrations
10 Mar 2004 :

CoCo Television are producing three shows as part of the St Patrick's Festival this month in Dublin.

After winning the tender from RTE, CoCo will be producing the first big event this Saturday, SkyFest. Kicking off at 8pm, the 30 minute show will be broadcast live on RTE 1. Five cameras are being strategically placed in Dublin, including one 'hot-head' camera on one of the ESB chimneys in Poolbeg, with a 680 ft cable running down to a satellite truck feeding directly to the satellite truck on the quays. TVM are providing all OB facilities. Simon Gibney is directing, Stuart Switzer is producing, and Dave Fanning and Clodhagh Ni Shaoire are presenting the show, with music - a remix of pop music from The Who to Emimen - mixed by Irish DJ Johnny Moy.

On Wednesday, St Patrick's Day, CoCo Television will be producing another live broadcast - the Parade - between 12.30 and 2pm. Shooting on Dame Street, CoCo are establishing a 'stage' area on the street, filming from the southside to the northside, as well as creating an interview area for interviews with performers, some celebrities and the public. The televised show will be a mix of coverage of the parade, interviews at the parade, VT with background information on some of the participants, VO from the truck and vox pops with the public. It's an elaborate set up, with Patrick Cowap directing (You're A Star, Eurovision, The Lyrics Board). Later that evening, a highlight show, presented by Cabin Fever contestent Andrew Fowler, will be broadcast with highlights from the day.

Both the SkyFest and Parade will be fed live to Reuters and AP, with 1 minute and 5 minute edited highlight EPKs going out to Reuters and AP on 16 and 17 March. Online editing and satellite services are provided by Windmill Lane.

UIP has also confirmed that Shrek will be joining the SkyFest celebrations on Saturday, near the Clarion Hotel on the quays, and will be joining The Lord Mayor and Grand Marshall Rosanna Davidson during the festivities.
