Scandinavian streaming platform Viaplay has partnered with Irish public broadcaster RTÉ to commission an exciting new Irish-set crime drama being produced by Bron Studios, Headline Pictures, and NENT Studios.
Charting the lives of a fictional Dublin family embroiled in a gangland war, the series will be led by Game of Thrones and The Wire star Aidan Gillen alongside Daredevil’s Charlie Cox and speaks to the enduring and unbreakable bonds of family and blood.
Principal photography has already begun on the series, which is being shot in and around Dublin. Directed by Diarmuid Goggins (Red Rock, Silent Witness), Kin is co-created by Viking’s Ciarán Donnelly and The Last Kingdom’s Peter McKenna.
Kin is being produced by the international TV division of Bron Studios (Joker, Bombshell) and producer Headline Pictures (The Man in the High Castle) with support from Irish screen agency Screen Ireland and the Broadcast Authority of Ireland.
The show will also see Gillen and Cox joined by an excellent Irish ensemble cast including Clare Dunne (Herself), Ciarán Hinds (The Terror), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander), Emmett Scanlan (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Sam Keeley (The Cured).
