Patrick Bergin was filming on TV3’s hit drama series ‘Red Rock’. The Drimnagh native and Holllywood actor took a break to talk to media about his new role in the award-winning continuing drama.
Careful to not give too much away, Patrick said: “Jim is essentially the catalyst for Rory’s switch to the dark side. He comes into the show like a whirlwind and leaves a bit of a mess behind. That’s all I’m saying!”
Bergin, is best known for his roles in Hollywood films ‘Sleeping with the Enemy’ starring alongside Julia Roberts, ‘Patriot Games’ alongside Harrison Ford and ‘When The Sky Falls’, amongst more, plays Jim Tierney, the grandfather of Detective Rory Walsh, played by Chris Newman. The role was specially created for Bergin who producers wanted to cast for quite some time.
Patrick will be appearing on our screens 17th April and will exit the show in June but he stopped short of revealing just how his character will leave in the summer: “I won’t tell you. You’ll just have to wait and watch.”
Patrick was joined on set by Show runner, Kim Revill, and Series Producer, Paul Walker, both of whom hinted that ‘Red Rock’ was set for more dramatic twists and turns in 2017.
Kim said: “We do love a cliff-hanger! We really pride ourselves on great story telling and we like to keep audiences guessing so there’ll definitely be plenty of twists and turns to look forward to in 2017.”
