‘The Moonstone’ from Irish Director Lisa Mulcahy to air on BBC One

The period drama is set to air for five consecutive days from Monday October 31st on the UK Channel, from the IFTA-winning director of ‘Legend of Longwood.'

Based on the 1860s publication of the same name from Wilkie Collins, the novelist accredited with writing one of the first known detective mystery novels in the English language.

Mulcahy directs a script adapted by Rachel Flowerday (Father Brown) and Sasha Hails (Versailles), chronicling an investigation into the theft of a diamond during a party at an English country house.

Franklin Blake (Joshua Silver) leads the investigation with detective Sergeant Cuff (John Thomson) in a bid to win the affections of Rachel Verinder (Terenia Edwards).

Producer Joanna Hanley is credited alongside Executive Producers Jo Sargent and John Yorke for King Bert Productions and Dan McGolpin for BBC.

Previous TV credits for Mulcahy are ‘Red Rock’, ‘Gift of the Magi’, ‘The Clinic’ and ‘Raging Bulls’. Her collection of short films include ‘Coming Home’ (2011), ‘Situations Vacant’ (2008) and ‘Day One’ (2001).
