Dearg Films’ four-part series sees Peter Coonan and Lochlann Ó Mearáin follow Irish fans at the European Championships in France.
The first episode comes to the small screen this Thursday, September 8th at 22:00 on TG4.
Brian Reddin, the writer behind new series ‘Fir Bolg’ directed and produced the series, with Gerry Mac Arthur on camera and Dave Fannin on sound. Off line was completed by Ultan Murphy in Windmill Lane, while on line, grade and mix was done by Gorilla Post with Barry Reid and Oleg Jitov.
Coonan is known for his roles in ‘Love/Hate’, ‘The Guarantee’ and ‘Between The Canals’, while Ó Mearáin’s recent work includes Whit Stillman’s ‘Love & Friendship’, ‘Ros na Rún’ and ‘Vikings’.
The two first worked together on TG4 series Éirí Amach Amú, where they discovered their shared love of soccer and decided to travel to France for the European Championships. ‘Je Mo Peil’ follows their exploits throughout the tournament.
They cried at the disappointment against the Belgians and cheered when we beat the Italians. From Paris to Lille, they followed the Green Army every step of the way, diving head first into the madness that follows Irish fans wherever they go.
Other encounters include those with Irish dancers working in the Moulin Rouge, visiting the Somme on the 100th anniversary and a spell with the Irish motor racing team in Le Mans, all the while offering their own unique take on what makes the Irish fans great.
