Q2 Revenues increase to €100m at Virgin Media Ireland
09 Aug 2016 : Katie McNeice
Recent figures show revenue has increased quarter on quarter by 2%.

Its superfast broadband network expansion programme has continued this year, with an additional 13,000 premises added.

This news follows the recent call by CEO Tony Hanway for a “future proofed” communications strategy for Ireland.

Virgin Media Ireland has also recently signed a long-term agreement to carry Sky content as part of its work with content programmers to establish compelling content for Irish audiences. Hanway also states:

“On the TV broadcasting front, Virgin Media recently announced we have entered into an agreement with ITV plc to acquire UTV Ireland, the nation’s newest free-to-air commercial broadcaster. This is another exciting development for Virgin Media and demonstrates our continued commitment to providing great content for Irish viewers. The proposed acquisition adds Ireland’s newest TV channel to our existing portfolio, which includes TV3, 3e and is subject to competition and regulatory approval by the relevant governing bodies.”
