Acclaimed documentary ‘A Turning Tide in the Life of Man’ will air on TG4 on December 27th.
The documentary has recently added to its’ impressive festival trophy haul by being awarded Jury Special Mentions at the Traces de vies Film Festival and the Foyle Film Festival.
It has also been announced that the film will hit French cinemas with the support of Toiles du Doc in April 2016.
The documentary follows John O'Brien, a fisherman from the small island of Inis Bó Finne, Co. Donegal. As part of an insular group, he launched a European campaign to regain the islanders’ ancestors’ rights to fish in the seas around them.
Filmed over eight years, the film tells how this man put himself in the heart of the new reform of the Common Fisheries in Brussels to try to understand and change the system that took everything from him.
The film is produced by Donegal-based company Lugh Films along with South-Wind Blows and Idée Originale.
The documentary was produced with the support of the Irish Film Board, TG4, France 5, France 3, Région Rhône Alpes, CNC. It is written and directed by Loïc Jourdain.
