RTÉ have announced that ‘Claire Byrne Live’, a brand new hour-long current affairs programme, will broadcast on Monday nights at 10.30pm from January on RTÉ One and RTÉ News Now.
The programme will feature a live studio audience, along with a new set, graphics and some additional features.
RTÉ’s current affairs flagship show ‘Prime Time’ will continue on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9.35pm providing reports and investigations as well as in-depth studio discussion and interviews with presenters Miriam O’Callaghan and David McCullagh.
Presenter Claire Byrne, who will also be returning to present ‘Saturday with Claire Byrne’ on RTÉ Radio 1 in January, said: ‘I’m really excited to be bringing this new current affairs show to Monday nights on RTÉ One. I am relishing presenting live on TV with a full studio audience and I’m really thrilled to be working on this new endeavour. We’ve been working hard on developing new elements for the programme and I’m really looking forward to viewers seeing it in January.’
RTÉ’s Managing Editor of Current Affairs David Nally said: ‘We are making these changes to offer the audience the greatest range of television current affairs possible across Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The new series will draw on the best of previous audience programmes, including ‘Questions and Answers’, ‘The Frontline’ and the current ‘Prime Time’ Tuesday audience programme. ‘Prime Time’ remains the flagship programme and the central brand of RTÉ Current Affairs and the addition of our new Monday offering along with the continued work of the RTÉ Investigations Unit completes a very strong stable of programming.’
