Nine Irish animation projects will be among the 86 projects pitched to buyers and investors at the Cartoon Forum next month.

The Cartoon Forum is a unique event focusing on pitching sessions of pre-selected TV projects where animation producers can find cross-border partners and speed up financial arrangements. It allows co-productions to be finalised, pre-buys agreed, negotiation of distribution agreements, options discussed on every type of right, and licensing of secondary rights. Since its creation in 1990, 525 series found financing, representing a total budget of 1.8 billion EUR.

The event takes place over 3 days, 23-26 September 2014, in Toulouse. This year’s forum, the 25th edition, will include 850 participants from 30 countries, 250 broadcasters and investors, and 79 TV projects to be pitched.

The nine Irish projects selected include ‘Dragon Fist’ by Treehouse Republic and ‘Ellie the Ace’ from Cartoon Saloon (‘The Secret of Kells’, ‘Song of the Sea’). ‘Little Roy’ from Jam Media, based on their previously successful live-action/animated show ‘Roy’ which is now airing its third series, will also be pitched.

Pre-school series ‘Kiva Can Do!’, a Kavaleer Production (‘Wildernuts’), and ‘Millie and Mr. Fluff’ from Mooshku will also be presented at the forum. ‘Papa’s Boy’ is a co-production between Irish firm Ink and Light and Finnish company Muste ja Valo to be pitched, while ‘Scribe’ (Wiggleywoo Ltd.), ‘The Dinkers’ (Monster Entertainment – ‘Rockabye Island’) and ‘Wulfie’ (Wulfie Animation Ltd & Monster Entertainment) are also Irish animated projects that will be pitched.

Northern Ireland company Flickerpix Animation, (which previously produced BBC NI series ‘Five Fables’, starring Billy Connolly) will also pitch their project ‘Cat & Dog’.
