The first Single project Development results have been announced in the new Creative Europe Programme and five Irish companies have received funding totalling €175,000 for the development of three documentaries and two feature films.

Screenworks received €50,000 for their feature film project ‘Undercard’ as did Zanita Films for their feature ‘The Blue Flower’. The three documentaries awarded were Planet Korda with their project ‘Butterfly City’, Magamedia Teo for ‘Leaning into the Wind’ and Soilsiú Teoranta for ‘In loco Parentis’. Each of these companies was awarded €25,000.

Irish organisations were also awarded funding under the Audience Development and Market Access schemes. Cinemobile (Fís na Mílaoise Teo.) received €59,960.60 for their project ‘North by Northwest – Films on the Fringe’ in which they have partnered with organisations in Finland, Iceland, Norway and Scotland to bring the best of European Cinema to outlying regions inn these territories. The Irish Film Institute are also a minority partner in the European Framework for Film Education project with British Film Institute Royal Charter which received €69,396. Galway Film Fleadh was awarded €46,750 for the Galway Film Fair under the Market Access scheme.

”We’re delighted with this strong start to Ireland’s participation in the new Creative Europe Programme. Along with our colleagues in the MEDIA Office Galway and the Culture Office, we look forward to working with many more Irish audiovisual and cultural organisations so they too can benefit from this invaluable fund”, said Orla Clancy of the Creative Europe Desk Ireland – MEDIA Office.

The Creative Europe Programme (2014-2020) is the EU support fund for the audiovisual and cultural sectors totaling €1.46 billion which replaces the previous Culture and MEDIA programmes. The MEDIA sub-programme supports the ability of the EU’s film and audiovisual industries to develop, distribute and promote their work across all platforms within Europe.

The date of the next Single Project Funding deadline will be announced in September. The MEDIA Offices in both Dublin and Galway are available for consultation on any queries regarding the MEDIA Sub-programme of the Creative Europe Programme.
