Foster and Allen’s New TG4 Series
06 Jun 2014 : Deirdre Molumby
Following on from the success of their TG4 series last year, Mick Foster and Tony Allen return with a new 13 week series of ‘The Foster and Allen Show’. Featuring music and song recorded in the TG4 studios, the series starts this Sunday 8th June on TG4 and is repeated on Wednesday nights.

Foster and Allen began in the seventies playing in country music bands around Ireland. In 1975, they formed a small band and went over to the UK to work Irish music venues on a short tour. Their music was easy listening with a touch of traditional Irish instrumentals. When their UK tour finished, they decided to remain as a duo and Foster & Allen was formed.

In addition to the UK tours, Foster & Allen have toured the USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania. They had five No. 1 Hits in Australia/New Zealand. They have appeared on TV shows in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales as well as Australia, USA and Canada.

Foster and Allen return to the small screen now following almost four decades in the music business. The new show was recorded in HD and features new on location videos, including ‘The Fields Of Athenry’, ‘My Lovely Rose Of Clare’ and ‘The Green Hills Of Sligo’ to name a few.

‘The Foster & Allen Show’ will include a variety of classic easy listening, folk, country, Irish and tradition music throughout the series as well as some of Foster and Allen’s own hits. There will also be some new songs from the duo which they recently recorded for their new album ‘Gold And Silver Days’, which is due out in September.

Each half hour long episode features great music and entertainment. Sunday evening’s show will feature songs such as ‘Molly My Lovely Molly’, ‘Fraulein’, ‘Jacqueline Waltz’, ‘Red River Valley’ and ‘The Hills of Connemara’. Mick Foster and Tony Allen will also perform ‘Galway Girl’ with X Factor winner Shayne Ward.

Foster and Allen will also embark on an Irish Concert Tour during the month of July.

‘The Foster & Allen Show’ is directed by Ian McGarry and produced by Peter Cassidy, with sound by Setanta Ó Dochartaigh.

The first episode of the new series airs this Sunday 8th June at 8pm on TG4.
