Irish Screenwriters Nominated for Writers’ Guild Awards in London this Nov
25 Oct 2013 : By Kevin Cronin
Kevin Lehane's screenplay for 'Grabbers' nominated for Writers' Guild award.
Irish representation is strong among the nominees for this year’s Writers’ Guild awards, to take place in London on 13th November – with screenwriters for ‘Good Vibrations’, ‘Grabbers’ and ‘What Richard Did’ all shortlisted.

Cork screenwriter Kevin Lehane, who was nominated for Best Script at this year’s IFTA awards for ‘Grabbers’, is in contention for Best First Feature-Length Film Screenplay.

Also included in this category are Irish screenwriting duo Glenn Patterson and Colin Carberry, who earned rave reviews for their 1970s-set Terri Hooley biopic ‘Good Vibrations’.

Award-winning screenwriter Malcolm Campbell, previously honoured with an IFTA for penning Lenny Abrahamson’s ‘What Richard Did’, is also up for the same Writers Guild award.

Mr Campbell also won an Evening Standard British Film award for his harrowing screenplay, and is known for scripting episode of ‘Skins’, ‘The White Queen’ and ‘The Bill’.

The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain is the trade union representing writers in TV, radio, theatre, books, poetry, film, online and video games, and the recognised body for negotiating minimum terms and practice agreements for writers.

The full list of this year’s nominees can be found online here.
