Irish Actress Katie McGrath Joins Jonathan Rhys Meyers In ‘Dracula’
31 Jan 2013 : By Eva Hall
Katie McGrath has been cast opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers in 'Dracula'
Irish actress Katie McGrath has been cast as Lucy Westenra in upcoming NBC series ‘Dracula’.

The Wicklow actress will join her ‘The Tudors’ co-star Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who is playing the fictional vampire in the 10-part series for Sky Living.

McGrath, best known for her role as Morgana in BBC series ‘Merlin’, will play fictional character Westenra, a wealthy London woman who is friends with Dracula’s love interest, Mina Murray.

Westenra, Dracula and Murray were characters developed by Irish writer Bram Stoker for his original ‘Dracula’ novel from 1897.

The TV series will focus on Dracula, who arrives in London disguised as an American business man with the intent to modernise science in 1890s London. The truth however, is that Dracula is seeking revenge on those responsible for his vampire lifestyle, but his plans soon change when he falls for Mina Murray.

‘Arrow’ actress Jessica de Gouw plays Murray, while ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Nonso Anozie has also been cast as RM Renfield, Dracula’s loyal friend.

‘Carnivàle’ creator Dan Knauf has developed the series which will air on NBC in the US and Sky Living in Ireland the UK.
