BBC Reveals ‘Ripper Street’ Will Air This Month
06 Dec 2012 :
'Ripper Street' stars Jerome Flynn, Matthew Macfadyen and Adam Rothenberg
Irish co-production ‘Ripper Street’ will air on BBC One on December 30, IFTN can reveal.

The Irish-shot series, which is set around the London police precinct in the aftermath of the Jack the Ripper murders in the late 19th century, filmed for 19 weeks in various locations around Dublin this summer.

The project was a co-production between Ireland’s Element Pictures and the UK’s Tiger Aspect Productions and Lookout Point.

The series, which mainly shot in Clancy Barracks in Island Bridge, is estimated to have brought more than €8m revenue to the country.

Irish cast and crew attached include actors Charlene McKenna and David Wilmot, production designer Mark Geraghty, costume designer Lorna Marie Mugan, as well as Screen Scene VFX and Egg Post Production.

The series was originally slated for an autumn 2012 TX, however BBC bosses were keen to air it in a prime time slot over the Christmas period to ensure maximum viewers.

Eight episodes in total will air on BBC One on Sunday nights. Episode one airs Sunday December 30 at 9pm.
