YouTube chooses content partners…Maverick Television, Fresh One Productions and Hat Trick Productions, who produced ‘Father Ted’, are understood to be among the independent production companies selected to create content for the first YouTube Original Channels in the UK, reports Broadcast. It has been reported that ITN, Channelflip and Big Balls Films have also been successful in their bids to run channels. The companies are now said to be agreeing terms with the Google-owned video site before securing up to €635,000 (£500,000) of investment to launch and manage channels for a year.
NBCU hires Bauer Radio executive for digital push…NBCUniversal International Television has hired former Bauer Radio digital executive Bruce Mitchell as vice president of digital in a bid to strengthen the online presence of its pay-TV brands.
Broadcast reports that Mitchell will be based in London, with his role including leadership the international digital team for E! Entertainment Television.
