A new series of ‘About the House’ this week returns bringing insights into a great variation of projects including the building of new houses, renovations and extensions.
Audiences will see how an old red brick terraced house in Rathmines is completely transformed into a modern home; and a couple in Ballsbridge will receive a visit from presenter Duncan Stewart to help in adding a basement extension that will double the size of their house.
Duncan will also be visiting Victor Connell whose friends and family are helping him build a fully accessible A-rated timber frame house in County Longford. The series is directed by Karen McGrath and produced by Marcus Stewart with Caitriona Egan as assistant producer.
Produced by Earth Horizon Productions, most of the series has been shot by Karl Dillon and the series editor is Donal O’Ceillaithair. Duncan will be joined on the show by his daughter, Tania Stewart, whose role on ‘About the House’ is to present a specific section of each show where audiences will learn from energy coaches how to save money by making environmentally-friendly choices. Viewers will also be witness to an Irish first as we follow the build of Patrick Daly’s zero carbon zero energy passive house in Mullingar.
The new series of ‘About the House’ starts tomorrow, Tuesday September 29th at 8.30pm on RTÉ1.
