IFTA Presents Channel 5: Meet The Commissioners

Channel 5 Director of Programmes, Ben Frow
Channel 5‘s Ben Frow & Sean Doyle to host morning session on 15th November.

The Irish Film & Television Academy is delighted to welcome Channel 5 Director of Programmes Ben Frow and Commissioning Editor Sean Doyle who will be hosting a morning session with Irish Television producers of factual and entertainment factual programmes next week, Tuesday 15th November.

About Ben Frow: At Channel 5, Ben Frow leads on all content and creative operations including commissioning and acquisitions. Recent commissioning highlights include The Body Donors, Penguin A&E, The Six Wives of Henry V11, Up Late with Rylan, Inside Buckingham Palace and How The Other Half Live. He has also overseen the creative renewal of Big Brother, the UK version of Lip Sync Battle and the launch of Spike.

Frow was formerly director of programming for Irish broadcaster TV3, where for five years he was responsible for all programming, scheduling, promotions and original production for the channel, as well as its digital partner 3e. In addition to growing audience share at TV3, Frow launched TV3Productions and grew digital channel 3e to become Ireland¹s number one digital channel.

Frow was Controller of features and entertainment at Channel 5 between 2004 and 2007, developing shows including How Not to Decorate, The Hotel Inspector, Cosmetic Surgery Live and The Joan Rivers Position. Previously he spent five years at Channel 4 becoming head of factual entertainment and features. Commissioning highlights included Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Property Ladder, Jamie’s Kitchen, Sex Tips for Girls, Nigella Bites, You Are What you Eat and How Clean Is Your House?

He began his television career with six years as a stylist/producer at ITV and was a senior producer at GMTV before moving to the BBC to be an executive producer for both BBC1 and BBC 2. [From Edinburgh TV Festival Programme]
