BAI's Sound and Vision Funding Offers

BAI's 21st Sound and Vision Funding Offers have been announced.

Round 21 of the Broadcast Authority of Ireland’s Sound and Vision Scheme II was announced today, with €4.68 million being ratified by the Authority for use in television. When completed, the funded projects will be broadcast by a range of community, commercial and public service broadcasters across the country.

In total, 21 television channels benefitted from the scheme with Drama being the most supported format. Two television shows from the newly formed UTV Ireland availed of the scheme garnering €445,000 euro between them.

Speaking after the announcement, Chief Executive of the BAI, Michael O’ Keeffe, said “The indicative allocation for funding in Round 21 was €4.75m and the Authority is pleased to award in excess of that allocation in the current round. The capacity to award funding to this level was again facilitated through the on-going, careful management of revenue associated with the fund’.

Drama Highlights of the 21st Round of the Scheme include:

  • ‘Red Rock’ being produced by Element Pictures for TV3 - receives €800,000
  • Magamedia’s children’s drama ‘Eipic’ for TG4 receives €600,000
  • Octagon’s drama ‘Clean Break’ for RTÉ receives €450,000
  • Savage Production’s drama ‘Pilgrimage’ for UTV Ireland receives €350,000
  • Samson Films’ drama for BBC NI ‘The Truth Commissioner’ receives €220,000
Documentary and History / Education Highlights include:

  • Circle Films’ ‘The Wireless’ for UTV Ireland receives 95,000
  • Independent Pictures’ ‘16 Letters’ for RTÉ One receives 205,000
  • Independent Pictures also receive 360,000 for their series ‘Crumlin’
  • Motive’s Lahinch – The Town That Surf Built for Setanta receives 180,000
  • Newgrange receive 290,000 for their Arts Documentary ‘Designing Ireland for RTÉ One
  • Sonas Productions’ ‘Mná an Cheoil’ for TG4 receives €150,000
  • Tile Films have received 140,000 for their TG4 documentary ‘Waterloo: Na Laochra Ceiltigh
  • Loosehorse receive 250,000 for their doc series ‘Trinity’ for RTÉ One
