Screenworks Releases New Animated Series for the Web
03 Jun 2009 :
'Bewildering Life' is an animated comedy series, set in a world where psychopathic rabbits run wild in the countryside, where a rock star with an ego bigger than Jupiter can start a war Hitler would have been proud of - over a hat!
Soundtracked by Irish rock band Therapy?, the show is the brainchild of Irish animator Enda O'Connor and will be available to watch online for free on www.dailymotion.com from Monday June 15th onwards. Dailymotion will be placing the episode on their front page in Ireland, the UK and USA.

“We are delighted that Dailymotion have decided to back the project, by helping us to promote it in this way,” said Screenworks producer Rob Cawley. “In the past year Screenworks have produced two web dramas for Irish broadcaster RTÉ under the StoryLand initiative. Through it we have learned how the TV audience is more inclined to lean back and absorb things, while web audiences lean forward and participate. There's been a shift from couch potatoes to mouse potatoes.”

Paul Duane, Screenworks' other producer, who was one of the creators of the international hit series Secret Diary of a Call Girl starring Billie Piper, says "Enda's mad, hyped-up comic vision is the real voice of 21st century Ireland, where influences from South Park, comics and science fiction are mashed up with everyday events in small towns." Enda also performed most of the voices himself and the results are a monument to what can be achieved with time, massive computing power and lots of talent.

Screenworks will be releasing a new episode every two to three weeks on www.bewilderinglife.com and on dailymotion, and initially will be releasing seven episodes – a first series of interconnected stories. Over the course of the following few months Screenworks will try and build a large community of fans and try to grow the series and the world that it is set in into something bigger – something more interactive. What form that interactivity will take will greatly depend on whether the series attracts funding or brand sponsorship.
