The Irish Film Centre presents 'Asphalt' with live musical accompaniment on Sunday 7th June 1998 at 6.30pm.

To coincide with National Cinema Day on June 7th, the Irish Film Centre presents the first of two films screening during June and July with live musical accompaniment, 'Asphalt', Joe May's 1929 classic. The second film will be 'Pandora's Box', screening on July 26th.

The fabulously sensual American actress Betty Amann plays a street walker/thief who seduces her captor, a gauche young policeman (Gustav Frohlich), in the urban landscape of UFA's studios.

The Unsurpassed opening sequence, which rivals anything in 'Metropolis', sets a dizzying context in which May's tragedy unfolds.

Live musical accompaniment is provided by Richard McLoughlin, Chimera Music

Admission price for the event is £3.50, Tickets available in advance from the IFC Box Office.

Also on the 7th of June the IFC is offering Admissions at two for the price of one which applies to all screenings except 'Asphalt'.
