Silver Mountain Distribution, the sales and marketing arm of Carey Fitzgerald’s Irish Silver Mountain Productions, has taken delivery of season two of Marc Punt’s crime series, Fair Trade - The Road Back (6 X 1 hour).
Following the success of season one, Fair Trade - Everybody’s Losing It (8 X 1 hour), which enjoyed the number one spot on VTM, VRT & Telenet’s SVOD Platform service Streamz, beating Mare of Easttown and The Undoing to the top spot, season two was immediately recommissioned.
The first series also enjoyed huge success on Amazon in the Netherlands, prompting them to snap up season two, which they are launching in December 2022, closely followed by Streamz Belgium in February 2023. In addition, season one is part of the launch package of shows on Amazon’s Freevee in Germany & Austria and GloboPlay Brazil.
Fair Trade - The Road Back is set three after the initial series. After Chief Inspector Walter Wilson (Kevin Janssens) is killed by a sniper in his own home following the release a Russian mob boss from prison, his cop partner Robin De Rover (Ella June Henrard) is no longer trusted by her colleagues, having worked closely with her corrupt Chief for so long. With help from drug lord and crime boss ‘Padre’ Paternoster (Peter Van Den Begin), she sets out on a mission to find Wilson’s killer. The series also stars Ukrainian actresses Kseniya Mishina and Polina Vasylina, along with Peter Thyssen and Sven de Ridder.
Fair Trade writer and director Marc Punt, whose company Independent Productions produced both series said: “The production had a bumpy start as getting our Kyiv based actresses over to Belgium was a big challenge, but it all worked out fine. I admire their bravery. They did a wonderful job.”
