Northern Ireland Screen to Host Random Acts Pitching Session in Belfast
27 Feb 2019 : News Desk
Northern Ireland Screen has announced that Catherine Bray, Commissioning Editor at Channel 4’s Random Acts, will be visiting Belfast on Friday 19th April at The Mac, Belfast.

Catherine will meet with local short filmmakers to listen to their pitches and ideas for potential Random Acts projects. The meetings are due to take place with support from Northern Ireland Screen.

Random Acts is Channel 4’s short film strand dedicated to the arts, founded in 2011 to escape the conventions of arts broadcasting and to expand its possibilities.

SESSION ONE:

Sign up for a one to one slot with Catherine Bray. Discuss your projects and get advice from an industry professional. Each slot lasts just 15 minutes, so it is recommended that you prepare your questions in advance.

New or starting out in film? Book a session to come and speak with Random Acts about your plans, ambitions and starting out in film. These sessions are suitable for students or those at the beginning of their journey as filmmakers. You can talk to Northern Ireland Screen about your ideas more generally, but this is not a specific pitching surgery. If you are a filmmaker who would like to pitch a film that you already have in mind, check out the Random Acts Pitching Session later on the same day at 14:00.

SESSION TWO:

Are you a filmmaker who would you like to pitch your film to Random Acts? Ideas will be pre-screened for suitability. You should have made at least one short film previously – this is not a first-time filmmaker’s strand.

  • Duration: 3-4 minutes
  • Budget: £4k or less
  • Delivery: by late July 2019

Are you a filmmaker who would you like to pitch your film to Random Acts? Then apply for one of these 1:1 pitching sessions to discuss your idea for a Random Acts film and the practicalities of working with the strand. Ideas will be pre-screened for suitability. You should have made at least one short film previously – this is not a first-time filmmaker’s strand.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 10th April.
