Irish Shorts Screen At Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival
05 Feb 2018 :
The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival the world’s premiere cinema event dedicated to short films, began on Saturday, February 2nd, welcoming two Irish Short films – ‘An Island’ & ‘Time Traveller’ to screen at the festival.

The festival runs from February 2nd – 10th.

Steve Kenny's IFTA nominated ‘Time Traveller’ is entered in Clermont’s Youth Audience Competition, while Rory Byrne’s ‘An Island’ is participating in the International Competition.

The Irish Film Board will host a stand at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market, which began yesterday as they continue to promote the latest slate of IFB short films via the IFB’s latest short film DVD. The Short Film Market will run until Wednesday, February 14th.

Directed by Steve Kenny, produced by Collie McCarthy and starring Barry Ward, ‘Time Traveller’ sees a Back To The Future-obsessed boy striving to finish building his own DeLorean replica before his family are evicted from their halting site. The film, which is one of the IFB’s 2017 Focus Shorts, received its world premiere earlier this year at the Galway Film Fleadh and was recently nominated for ‘Best Short Live Action’ at the 2018 IFTA Film & Drama Awards.

‘An Island’ tells the story of a solitary man who sets out to conquer an isolated island. The film is written and directed by Rory Byrne with Ciarán Deeney (And Maps and Plans) producing the short. Byrne previously wrote the script for ‘Coda’ which picked up a host of international awards.

The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival screens around 450 films in 14 venues for more than 160.000 spectators and attracts 3,500 industry professionals each year. The Short Film Market hosts 37 exhibiting countries and some 8.000 films at the Video Library.
