In celebration of twenty-five years of MEDIA, this special event will take place on December 1st and 2nd, with key events and panels set to be live streamed from Brussels.
It is organised by the European Film Commission in collaboration with The Centre for Fine Arts (BOZAR) in order to celebrate the MEDIA programme, which enables filmmakers to both create and distribute content in Europe.
Irish filmmakers can observe key policy makers and figures in the audiovisual industry, who will discuss key challenges and opportunities ahead. The event playlist which will host the live stream has been embedded below.
A collection of public screenings has also been scheduled, with several directors and key crew members set to attend. This includes ‘Noces’ (Stephan Streker), Toto le héros (Jaco Van Dormael) and ‘La promesse’ (Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne ).
In addition to its directors attending, ‘La promesse’ will be introduced with a talk on film restoration by Nicola Mazzanti (Curator, Cinematek).
UK Producer Rebecca O’Brien, a long-term collaborator of Ken Loach (I, Daniel Blake) will speak on a panel entitled ‘Women on the move: Towards a more diverse film industry.’ O’Brien’s credits include Irish title ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ starring Cillian Murphy (Anthropoid), which earned the Palme d’Or in 2006.
