John Carney’s musical drama ‘Sing Street’ is set to hit Irish and UK cinemas on March 18th, 2016, with Lionsgate distributing.
The film is about a boy growing up in Dublin during the 1980s who escapes his strained family life by starting a band and moving to London.
Written and directed by ‘Once’ and ‘Begin Again’ director John Carney and financed by Merced Media Finance, the Irish Film Board and the Irish Tax incentive, the film stars newcomer Ferdia Walsh-Peelo alongside Lucy Boynton, Aidan Gillen, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Jack Reynor.
‘Sing Street’ was shot in locations in and around Dublin last Autumn and wrapped in late October with post-production taking place in Screen Scene. Louise Kiely was the Casting Director.
Sing Street was produced by Martina Niland (Cosmo Films) and Anthony Bregman (Likely-Story) and co-produced by Paul Trijbits and Christian Grass (FilmWave).
