Clones Film Festival now accepting short film submissions and announce details of 48 hour short film competition

The Clones Film Festival is now accepting short film submissions for their annual Francie Awards and they have also announced details of their annual 48 hour short film challenge.

Clones run short film competitions in two categories – short fiction/experimental and short documentary. All shorts for competition must be no longer than 30 minutes and the CFF’s English speaking jury needs to be able to understand them.

The entry fee is €20 and the entry must include a signed Clones Film Festival rights document. The submission format is HD 720 25fps and CFF accepts file transfers only (wetransfer, dropbox etc). They do not accept Vimeo or Youtube links for download. The deadline for submissions has been extended until 15th of September 2015.

The CFF have stated that they can handle higher resolution file formats and also DVD’s as a last resort. They project from an assembled timeline of all approved short films. So whatever aspect or file format you supply, it will be projected on a HD 720 25fps and scaled to fit.

They welcome submissions of all other types of films outside the competitions.

There are limited slots available and not all films will be screened.

To enter, share your film file with info@clonesfilmfestival.com but be sure to also send an email notification to CFF.

Clones reserve the right to use scenes from supplied shorts for promotion of Clones Film Festival 2015. Payment options are: bank draft, postal orders or cash which should be sent to:Seamie Mc Mahon, 1 Fortview, Newtownbutler Road, Clones, Co. Monaghan.

Clones have also announced details of their Annual 48 hour short film challenge.

The challenge, in association with Clones Credit Union Ltd, invites filmmakers, writers and crew to script, prep, scout locations, cast, rehearse, film, edit and present a finished short film in just 48 hours.

Each team will be given a budget of €400 to cover all expenses - petrol, phones, art dept, photocopying, costumes, make-up, catering, etc. Accommodation is not provided but festival organisers will provide assistance with seeking accommodation if necessary. The rest: location permissions, cast, props etc. is up to the applicant. Clones Film Festival will provide a production assistant who will liaise with the teams and act in an advisory capacity.

For a full list of the rules and regulations, see www.clonesfilmfestival.com.

Interested production teams are invited to submit a detailed proposal of the film they wish to make (max. 200 words). Films can be any genre - drama, documentary, stop-motion animation, though it must be feasible to shoot in one day with a skeleton crew. Feasibility will be taken into account when proposals are judged.

Films must be at least three minutes long and no longer than nine minutes. They must be completed over the weekend (Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October). Deadline for receipt of the finished films is 12 midday on Sunday 25 October. All filmmakers must be able to attend the 'Francies' award ceremony on the closing night of the festival, Sunday 25 October.

Deadline for entries is September 30th 2015 and entries and proposals must be submitted by e-mail. Submissions will be acknowledged within 24 hours.

Send your proposal, team name and C.V. or credits of your proposed project’s director/producer, camera operator, editor and any other key crew, contact Seamie at info@clonesfilmfestival.com or on 086-3545424.
