‘Lost & Found’ now in post-production

After beginning their shoot on March 19th in the Castleconnell area, Co. Limerick, ‘Lost & Found’, a short film from Liam O’ Neill, has entered post-production.

The film follows Charlie whose heart is in the right place now that he thinks he’s found a way to help his grieving and struggling Mom. But when he pet-naps local animals and claims the rewards, things don’t end up as he intended.

The film is directed by Liam O’Neill, who has an extensive track record as a screenwriter, director and producer. Behind the camera there is Patrick Jordan - his body of work includes the Oscar nominated short film ‘Pentecost’. An actress, TV host, writer and a dedicated animals rights advocate, Caroline Morahan, plays Kathleen – Charlie’s Mother. Lee O’Donoghue, a 10-year-old theatre, film and TV actor, is the main character of ‘Lost and Found’. The film is produced by Patrick Daly and Magdalena Puzmujzniak.

‘Lost and Found’ is a winner of the very competitive Film Limerick Scheme, founded by Limerick City of Culture 2014 in partnership with Behind The Scenes. The short film is supported by Limerick Animal Welfare and Maxi Zoo Ireland.

Speaking on behalf of Limerick City of Culture, Project Manager for Film Limerick, Ronan Cassidy commented: It is great to see the work of the last couple of months come together. First of all I would like to thank Patricia Hasselbeck-Flynn and the Flynn family for letting us use their house as the main location and the Castleconnell community in general for being so supportive. I am looking forward to seeing the national and international reactions to the locations we have used in Co. Limerick for the filming of Lost and Found. I would also like to thank the Lost and Found team for their hard work and dedication over the last few months. Limerick City of Culture is delighted to be supporting the Lost and Found Film.’

‘In Ribbons’ completes production and now enters Festival circuit

‘In Ribbons’, the short film directed by Marie-Valerie Jeantelot and written by Caroline Farrell is now complete and beginning its festival journey.

Selected to screen at the Cannes Art Film Festival and the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival in May, the film will have its world premiere in competition at the Belfast Film Festival on Saturday, April 25th.

Set in 1960’s Ireland, ‘In Ribbons’ unfolds through a non-dialogue narrative. This darkly hypnotic story is layered with striking cinematography from Basil Al-Rawi and tells the tale of young Laurie, abandoned to a place of fear, holding firm to her identity, spirit and resilience through the power of her dreams and memory.

The film stars Patrick O’Donnell, (North Circular Road, The Looking Glass and the upcoming Daria). Geraldine McAlinden (How to be Happy, Portrait of a Zombie and the upcoming ‘The Secret Scripture’.) and Melissa Nolan, (Sodium Party, and Mouth On Fire Theatre Productions.) Laurie is played by young actress Rebecca Waldron.

Produced by Farrell and Jeantelot with associate producer, Caitriona Costello, the film was also part-funded via crowdfunding and a Film Bursary Award from Kildare County Council Arts Office, with line-producer and set-design co-ordinator Tom Dowling heading a talented crew that included, Neil Horner on sound and music score, camera assistants, Stewart Lambert, Adrian Moylan, Stephen Ussher on set-build, costume Elga Hick, make-up Amy O’Neill, catering and production stills, Errol Farrell. The film was edited by Marie-Valerie Jeantelot with assistance from supervising editor, Grainne Gavigan.

‘Bridge To Kindness’ to screen in competition at 7th annual CMS International Children’s Film Festival

‘Bridge to Kindness’been selected to screen in competition at the 7th CMS International Children’s Film Festival, to be held in India between 7th and 15th of April. It has also been selected to screen at the International Entr’2 Marches in Cannes 2015.

‘Bridge to Kindness’ was dreamt up as an idea to write and shoot a short film in one weekend, using only the equipment and resources that the production company had available at the time. The script was written on a Thursday night, the film was cast and crewed on the Friday; the remaining production elements had been put in place by Saturday and the film itself was shot in just one day on location in Dublin on Sunday.

The story examines the plight of homelessness, an issue which writer/director Gibson feels was instrumental in attracting cast and crew on a voluntary basis at such short notice. The producers were delighted to have experienced cinematographer Alan Rogers come onboard as well.

Chloe Gibson stars in the lead role of Amy and has since been cast in her debut feature film ‘The Gaelic Curse’ (Zanzibar Films). The film also stars screen veteran Steve Wilson (Game of Thrones / Love/Hate), Chelsea O’Connor (Jimmy’s Hall / Saol) and Cara Christie (How to be Happy) alongside newcomers Sarah Phelan and Reiss Gibson.

Two Dublin bands Youth Mass and Cold Comfort who kindly contributed their music for the soundtrack of the film.

‘Bridge to Kindness’ premiered at the Dublin International Short Film and Music Festival in October 2014 and has since screened at numerous festivals around the world including the 8th International Children's Film Festival Bangladesh, the Cork Independent Film Festival, the Lahore International Children's Film Festival, the Film Devour Short Film Festival Belfast, the Underground Cinema Film Festival, Jump the Cut Film Festival Singapore and the ProFiRe Short Film Festival in Edinburgh, amongst others.

It also recently returned to Dublin screen as part of the Lighthouse Cinema Short Film Showcase, with all proceeds going to the Capuchin Day Centre for the Homeless, with thanks to OIC Media.

Director Stephen Gibson said: ‘A lot of money can get spent on some short films that never get seen in a cinema by a paying audience and this is a really good example of how a nice little narrative with the right cast and team, even with no money, can be very successful’
