Irish director Ciarán Foy’s Sinister 2 will open in US cinemas in late Summer 2015 on August 21st. The film, produced by Blumhouse Pictures and Entertainment One and which will be released by Focus Features in the US is the sequel to the 2012 hit which starred Ethan Hawke and grossed almost $100 million from $3 million budget.
The film’s writers Scott Derickson and C. Robert Cargill were responsible for the original. The film has not yet been cast but is expected to begin shooting soon. There is no word yet on UK or Irish release dates.
Ciarán Foy’s IFTA winning debut feature Citadel won him a slew of awards and acclaim in 2012 and saw its young director nominated for an IFTA Rising Star Award.
Foy also recently cemented his reputation as one of the country’s most promising young directors by winning 1st Prize for Best New Director at Cannes Lions for a Playstation test commercial he directed.
