First Image of Pierce Brosnan for ‘The Moon and the Stars’
The first image for ‘The Moon and the Sun’ has been released (pictured above). It portrays Pierce Brosnan in his role as King Louis XIV in a fictional story that sees the king attempt to achieve immortality by capturing and trying to steal the life force from a mermaid. As previously reported on IFTN, the shoot was recently moved to Australia as opposed to the original location, France.

‘The Moon and the Sun’ is a Pandemonium Films and Cosmos Filmed Entertainment production. Good Universe is handling international sales and Focus Features will release in the US. It was recently confirmed that Chinese firm Kylin Films has put in $20.5m of the $40.5m total budget, making the investment China’s biggest financial contribution to a non-studio movie produced outside mainland China.

Director Sean McNamara’s ‘The Moon and The Sun’ is based on Vanda McIntrye’s novel of the same name. William Hurt, Benjamin Walker, Kaya Scodelario, Ben Lloyd-Hughes and Pablo Schreiber and China’s Fan Bingbing co-star.

Official Trailer for ‘What If’
Acquired by CBS Films and starring Daniel Radcliffe, a trailer for rom-com ‘What If’ has been released. Radcliffe plays Wallace, a med school dropout who is introduced to Chantry, played by Zoe Kazan, at a party through a mutual friend, Allen (Adam Driver). As Chantry has a boyfriend, Wallace and her decide to remain friends. However, things get complicated…

The movie is an Irish-Canadian co-production produced by No Trace Camping, Caramel Film and Fastnet Films, with Macdara Kelleher among the producers. It is directed by Michael Dowse (‘Goon’) from a script by Elan Mastai, adapted from a play by T.J. Dawe and Michael Rinaldi. Formerly known as ‘The F Word’, it was filmed in Canada and has already won awards.

‘What If’ will be released in Ireland on the 22nd August 2014:

Trailer for ‘A Walk among Tombstones’, starring Liam Neeson
Liam Neeson continues his screen persona as a determined, ruthless action hero in his latest film, ‘A Walk among Tombstones’. The film is directed and written by Scott Frank, who also scripted ‘Minority Report’ and the upcoming ‘Assassin’s Creed’ with Michael Fassbender. ‘A Walk among Tombstones’ is adapted from Lawrence Block’s bestselling mystery novel.

Neeson plays Matt Scudder, a former NYPD cop who decides to become an unlicensed private investigator. He agrees to help a drug trafficker hunt down the men who kidnapped and murdered his wife. Neeson can currently be seen in ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’, which is out in cinemas today.
