Michael Fassbender is set to play real-life American novelist Thomas Wolfe in Michael Grandage’s upcoming feature ‘Max Perkins: Editor of Genius’.
The Golden Globe-nominee will play the ‘The Lost Boy’ and ‘The Hills Beyond’ novelist opposite Oscar-winner Colin Firth, who will play real-life literary agent Max Perkins.
The film will explore the genuine friendship between the men, which changed both their lives forever.
Grandage will direct from a script by ‘Skyfall’ writer John Logan. The film is also based on a biography by A Scott Berg.
James Bierman will produce the feature which will be sold internationally by FilmNation in the US.
Glen Basner, film executive and founder of FilmNation, said Fassbender and Firth are “undoubtedly two of the finest screen actors working today”, according to The Hollywood Reporter. FilmNation will shop the film to buyers at the American Film Market (AFM) this week.
Fassbender is working non-stop in Hollywood since his Golden Globe-nominated turn in Steve McQueen’s ‘Shame’, for which he also earned a BAFTA nomination and an IFTA Award. The Kerry-native will be seen next in another Steve McQueen feature ‘Twelve Years A Slave’, and a yet-to-be-titled Terrence Malick film, which also stars Ryan Gosling and Natalie Portman.
Oscar-winner Firth (The King’s Speech) will next be seen in ‘The Railway Man’ with as well as ‘The Devil’s Knot’ opposite fellow Oscar-winners Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon respectively.
