The Irish born actor Jonas Armstrong will star alongside David Morrissey (The Reaping, Blitz), Peter Capaldi (In the Loop, The Thick of It) and Jayd Johnson (River City) in BBC hour long drama ‘The Field of Blood’.
Written and directed by David Kane (This Year’s Love, Born Romantic), ‘The Field of Blood’ is a crime drama adapted from Denise Mina’s novel of the same name. Set in 1982, it centres on would-be journalist Paddy Meehan (Jayd Johnson), a young copygirl working in Glasgow newspaper office.
Jonas Armstrong plays the role of Terry Hewitt, a 26 year old reporter at the Daily News Newspaper in Glasgow. Terry is one of the few people in the newsroom who believes in Paddy and teams up with him as they break the rules to prove that the police are wrong about a recent child murder.
Jonas Armstrong is an Irish born actor who is currently based in the UK. His previous acting credits include the title role in BBC One series ‘Robin Hood’, ‘Teachers’, ‘The Ghost Squad’ and ‘The Street’. Jonas can also be seen in upcoming thriller ‘Twenty8k’ with Kaya Scodelario (Skins) and Stephen Dillane (The Hours) which is expected for release in 2012.
The production is made by Slate North with Will Wands (River City, The Magdalene Sisters) producing. Executive producers on the project are Andrea Calderwood (The Last King of Scotland, Generation Kill) for Slate North, Gaynor Holmes for BBC Scotland and Leslie Finlay for Creative Scotland. ‘The Field of Blood’ will be filmed in Glasgow and shown on BBC One in late 2011.
