Irish actor Michael Fassbender is set to star in David Cronenberg’s new feature ‘A Dangerous Method’ in May. The film explores the relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud and also stars Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel.
‘A History of Violence’ and ‘Eastern Promises’ director David Cronenberg is set to helm the new feature film which explores how the relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud led to the discovery of the method of psychoanalysis. The drama will feature IFTA winning Irish actor Michael Fassbender (Centurion, Hunger) as Carl Jung opposite Viggo Mortenson (The Lord of the Rings: The Reurn of the King) as Freud. The film’s other stars are Keira Knightley (The Duchess) and Vincent Cassel (Mesrine: Killer Instinct).
‘A Dangerous Method’ is based on Christopher Hampton’s play, ‘The Talking Cure’. It’s produced by Martin Katz (Hotel Rwanda), Marco Mehlitz (Just Friends) and Jeremy Thomas (Rabbit Proof Fence). The production companies involved are London’s Recorded Picture Company, Germany’s Lago Film and Canada’s Prospero Pictures. The film is to shoot in Germany principally – the shoots exact location and other possible shooting locations are TBC as is the project’s director of photography.
Michael Fassbender is currently filming ‘Jane Eyre’ in the UK and will be seen in ‘Centurion’ hitting Irish theatres later this month.
