TV3 has announced that Claire Byrne has been appointed new news anchor for TV3 News. Claire is currently presenting Ireland AM and will join Alan Cantwell to replace Grainne Seoige who moves to Sky News this month.
Claire is one of Irelands most experienced live television presenters. A native of Co. Laois, Claire, 28, has extensive experience in broadcast and print journalism. Having studied journalism in Dublin, Claire moved into television after working for four years as a journalist in UK and Irish Radio. She joined TV3 in 1999 as news anchor on Ireland AM and has played a vital role in the success of the programme.
Claire is thrilled at the prospect and said “I am delighted to have been offered this position and I am really looking forward to working with the news structure again. Going back into presenting feels like coming home.”
With up to 1.6 million viewers tuning into TV3 news every week, Claire joins the frontline news team comprised of anchor, Alan Cantwell, entertainment correspondent Lorraine Keane, Weatherman Martin King and Trevor Welch at the sports desk.
