Vico Film's Cormac Fox Named Among the EFP's Producers On The Move 2019
24 Apr 2019 : Nathan Griffin
Irish Producer Cormac Fox
Irish producer Cormac Fox of Vico Films has been selected as Ireland’s EFP Producer on the Move for 2019.

For 20 years, the most enterprising, up-and-coming producers from across Europe have been selected for EFP Producers on the Move at the Cannes Film Festival.

Based on their already acclaimed work and first international co-productions, EFP (European Film Promotion), the unique network of 38 European film promotion institutions, has been picking 20 producers each year for its high-profile networking platform as well as promoting them to the international film industry.

Fox is a graduate of Ireland's National Film School, who has produced several feature films, including Fiona Tan's ‘History's Future’, which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2015, Peter Foott's 2016 local breakout hit ‘The Young Offenders’, and Sophie Hyde's ‘Animals’ which had its world premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. He is currently producing a TV series, ‘Cold Courage’, for Viaplay. Fox’s selected project, ‘Sarajevo Calling’, is currently in development.

Speaking about the announcement, Producer Cormac Fox told IFTN:

"I am delighted to be selected as one of EFP's 2019 Producers On the Move. Many producers whom I admire and respect have been selected for the Programme over the past years and thus it is an honour to be taking part this year at Cannes. I'd like to thank EFP and also Screen Ireland for their much-appreciated support. I very much look forward to the opportunities that being part of this exciting network will present for myself and our selected project Sarajevo Calling.”

The other 2019 Producers on the Move are: Hendrik Verthé (Belgium), Anita Juka (Croatia), Nina Bisgaard (Denmark), Grégoire Debailly (France), Eva Blondiau (Germany), Julianna Ugrin (Hungary), Lilja Ósk Snorradóttir (Iceland), Nadia Trevisan (Italy), Inese Boka-Grūbe (Latvia), Joram Willink (The Netherlands), Dyveke Bjørkly Graver (Norway), Małgorzata Staroń (Poland), João Viana (Portugal), Mila Turajlić (Serbia), Rok Biček (Slovenia), arles Torras (Spain), Jon Nohrstedt (Sweden), Sereina Gabathuler (Switzerland), and Emily Morgan (United Kingdom)

In two decades, 400 producers have taken part in the tailor-made event in order to foster international co-productions, intensify the exchange of experiences, and create new professional networks. Many of them have become long-standing production partners like Labina Mitevska (North Macedonia) and Zdenka Gold (Croatia), who met at EFP Producers on the Move in 2013, returned to the Cannes Film Festival with 'Sieranevada' along with fellow participant Anca Puiu in 2016 and celebrated the premiere of 'God Exists, Her Name is Petrunya' at this year's Berlin International Film Festival.

Speaking about the initiative, Executive Director of Eurimages Fund and long-term partner Roberto Olla, said: “We have been working with European Film Promotion as part of their initiatives in Cannes and Toronto for several years now. We both share the same ambition for increased co-operation amongst film professionals in Europe and beyond. Although we walk different paths, our collaboration has come about as a means of achieving this. Happy Birthday and long live EFP!”

The programme receives financial support from Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme of the European Union and the EFP member organisations.

The EFP members supporting this year's edition of EFP’s Producers On The Move are: Screen Ireland, Flanders Images, Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Danish Film Institute, UniFrance, German Films, Hungarian National Film Fund, Icelandic Film Centre, Istituto Luce Cinecittá, National Film Centre of Latvia, Eye International (The Netherlands), Norwegian Film Institute, Polish Film Institute, Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual I.P. / ICA (Portugal), Film Center Serbia, Slovenian Film Center, Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales / ICAA (Spain), Swedish Film Institute, Swiss Films, and the British Council.
