David Gleeson's Psychological Thriller 'Don’t Go' Starring Stephen Dorff and Melissa George Releases in Irish Cinemas
15 Apr 2019 : News Desk
Stephen Dorff in 'Don't Go'
The third feature from acclaimed Irish director David Gleeson, ‘Don’t Go’, opened in Irish cinemas on Friday, 12 April.

The psychological thriller stars Stephen Dorff (‘Blade’, ‘True Detective’), Melissa George (‘Home and Away’, ‘Hunted’), Simon Delaney (‘This Must Be The Place’, ‘Delivery Man’), Aoibhinn McGinnity (‘Love/Hate’, ‘Quarry’), Charlotte Bradley (‘Mystic Knights of Tir na Nóg’, ‘The Gift’) and Luke Griffin (‘Band of Brothers’, ‘The Clinic’).

‘Don’t Go’ follows Ben Slater (Stephen Dorff) and his wife Hazel (Melissa George) in the wake of the tragic death of their daughter, Molly. The couple retreats to the west coast of Ireland to build themselves a new life in a quaint hotel by the sea. However, there is no escape for Ben who is plagued by a recurring dream of a perfect day all three of them spent on the beach last summer. Ben becomes convinced that he can change the past through this dream and bring his little girl back. As his determination to bring Molly home grows, his grasp on reality slips and his sanity is questioned by those around him. Somewhere between dreams and reality lies the truth.

David Gleeson (‘Tolkien’) directs a script he co-wrote with the BAFTA-winning Ronan Blaney.  Nathalie Lichtenhaeler of Wide Eye Films produces, with other crew including DoP James Mather, production designer Tracey O’Hanlon and editor Isobel Stephenson. The film was shot on location in Spiddal, Co. Galway

Dorff executive produced the film with Michael Helfant and Bradley Gallo from Amasia Entertainment, which co-financed along with Screen Ireland, BAI, Northern Ireland Screen and Section 481 tax incentives. Production facilities were provided by Danú Media and post-production took place at EGG post Production in Dublin.

‘Don’t Go’ marks Gleeson’s return to directing duties following ‘Cowboys and Angels’ (2003) and ‘The Front Line’ (2006).

His next project ‘Tolkien’ from Fox Searchlight and Chernin Entertainment is slated for release later this year and stars Nicholas Hoult playing the role of ‘Lord of the Rings’ writer, JRR Tolkien.

‘Don’t Go’  opened on Friday, 12 April in Dundrum, Swords, Nenagh and IMC Galway.
