'Tradition' Screening Sells Out at Carlow Film Festival
14 Nov 2018 :
After the Irish Premiere completely sold out at Kerry Film Festival, ‘Tradition’ has now sold out at the Carlow Film Festival.

The Gala Opening Film for The Kerry Film Festival from OC Productions latest feature film will screen this Thursday 15th November as the Gala Opening Film for this year’s Carlow International Film Festival at the Omniplex Cinema at 6.30pm.

‘Tradition’ tells the story of a Judge, played by Paul Ronan, (Veronica Guerin, The General) who on his last day on the bench, finds himself presiding over the most controversial case that his court and his town has ever seen.

The film is written by Damien O’Callaghan & Claire Corrigan, while O’Callghan also directs. Cast on the project includes Paul Ronan (), Pascal Scott (‘The Young Offenders’), Brian Harty, and James Daly. The cinematographer on the project is Conor Fleming (‘The Young Offenders’, Poison Pen’), and it is being edited by Declan O’Shea.

Centred on the controversial decision of a referee in an All-Ireland club championship game, the feature also includes appearances from legendary RTÉ commentator Micheál Ó Muírcheartaigh & Broadcaster Marty Morrissey (‘Dancing with the Stars’), as well as comedy legend Brendan Grace.

The project is completely self-financed with none of the €150k budget being generated from any state body funding decisions or grants. ‘Tradition’ was shot on location in Killarney, Co. Kerry, which has been home to O’Callaghan for the past twenty-one years.

Speaking to IFTN prior to release, Writer/Director Damien O’Callaghan told IFTN:

“It’s about a referee who made a controversial decision in an All-Ireland club championship game. The judge is in mid-life and wondering if he made the right decision to become a judge.”

"I couldn't ask for a better cast and crew who always practiced that Musketeer ‘All for One and One for All’ Attitude, which was pivotal in making this feature a great feature.”

A Q&A with O’Callaghan and the main cast will follow the screening on Thursday evening.
