Screen Ireland Funding Decisions for Second Quarter 2018

'Vivarium', 'The Last Right', 'Here are the Young Men' among recipients of production funding in Screen Ireland's second quarter 2018.

‘The Last Right’ receives 800,000 to Deadpan Pictures, for Aoife Crehan’s feature.  ‘Vivarium’ Lorcan Finnegan’s feature currently shooting in Ireland, receives €750,000 Production funding; ‘Vivarium’ is produced by John McDonnell and Brendan McCarthy at Fantastic Films.

Eoin Macken, currently on screen in the new 'Nightflyers' trailer released today, has received funding of €550,000 for ‘Here are the Young Men’, with TYM Productions, Joe Lawlor and Christine Molloy have received €650,000 production funding for ‘Rose Plays Julie’, with Samson Films. Blinder Films’ has received €800,000 for ‘The Domestique’, written by Kieron J Walsh and Directed by Ciaran Cassidy.  

A number of fictional co-productions have also received funding including ‘My Salinger Year’ directed by Philippe Falardeau, which received €150,000 with Parallel Film Productions, Port Pictures received €250,000 for Matthew Bissonette’s Leonard Cohen inspired ‘Death of a Ladies’ Man’ starring Gabriel Byrne, Park Films’ Gingko’ received €175,000, while Lina Luzyte’s The Castle’ received €175,000 with Samson Films.

Turnip & Duck Ltd. Received €200,000 in the Animation Television branch of funding for their project ‘Critters.tv, which is directed by Ian Kenny, written by Colm Tobin & Aidan O’Donovan.

In the documentary section, Ross Whitaker’s ‘Full Circle’ with John Kelleher Media has received €100,000, Marci Films’ ‘Songs for While I’m Away, which is written and directed by Emer Reynolds was awarded €175,000, and Underground Films’ ‘Once in a Lifetime’ received €50,000. A number of other projects also received provisional offers of commitment from Screen Ireland including ‘Suds: The Father of Globalisation (Wildfire Films), ‘Piano Dreams’ (Gambit Pictures), ‘Pure Grit’ (Underground Films), ‘Prisoners of the Moon’ (Bandit Films), and ‘To the Moon’ (Inland Films Ltd.).

Additional Production of €9,375 was awarded to Tom Collins’ Irish language production ‘Aithrí’, which is written by David Howard & Greg O’Braonain with De Facto as part of the Cine4 funding scheme.
