The Irish feature film is set for a 4th of July release date in US cinemas following The Weinstein Company’s decision to extend screenings following the original domestic run in April of this year.
John Carney’s musically-driven drama has grossed $8.2 million globally and holds a steady rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film boasts six award nominations to date, including the IFTA or Best Director in 2016. Amongst award wins are Jack Reynor’s IFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Harvey Weinstein recently wrote about his passion for the work of Irish Talent Carney on Deadline:
“Music is the fabric of Carney’s films. First with his incredible film Once, which went on to win an Oscar for best song and became a Broadway hit winning eight Tony Awards, and then again Carney captured the spirit of New York City through film and music in Begin Again…Not since John Hughes has this been done so well on screen.”
Sing Street released to Irish cinemas on the 17th of March 2016.
