Belfast shot fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’ was the big winner at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night, winning 12 awards in total including Best Drama Series.
The series, which is currently in production of its’ sixth season, also won awards for outstanding supporting actor (Peter Dinklage), writing (David Benioff and Dan Weiss) and direction (David Nutter) on Sunday night.
The show also won eight awards at the previously held Creative Arts Emmys including wins by Production Mixer Ronan Hill for Outstanding Sound Mixing (his second win) and Casting Director Carla Stronge for Outstanding Casting.
With a total of 12 Emmys this year, ‘Game of Thrones’ broke a record by surpassing ‘The West Wing’ to take home more TV Academy awards in a single year than any other show. The show was up for 24 awards in total this year, which was more than any other project.

Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. ‘Game of Thrones’ films on location across Northern Ireland and in Titanic Studios in Belfast and the Linen Mill Film Studios in Banbridge.
